Lyphard

Lyphard (1969-2005) was a racehorse thoroughbred born of Northern Dancer and goofed by Court Martial .

Born in Pennsylvania , Lyphard passed to sales at Keeneland in November 1969 and was acquired by Alec Head 15,000 guineas on behalf of the Brothers Wertheimer those of Newmarket . He ran twelve times for six wins, including the Prix Jacques Le Marois and Prix de la Forêt .

This is especially as it became known standard, resulting in no less than 24 winners of group 1 . Housed in a first time Haras Etreham in Normandy , it was not long shine through Durtal and Pharly . In 1978, he was transferred to Gainsway Farm in Kentucky , where he would give 115 "stakes winners," including the cracks Three Troikas , Dancing Brave , Manila and Jolypha . He was top of the list of standards in France in 1978, 1979, and topped the list of U.S. standards in 1986.

Out of rises in 1996 Lyphard lived to the venerable age of 36 years, making it one of the oldest horses in the world. He was euthanized in June 2005 due to infirmities due to his age.
